Producer and DJ from Naples, Riva Starr enjoys the title of one of the least conventional DJs of today. His currently biggest hit, “I was Drunk” is funny and a little grotesque, drawing inspiration from Balkan music tradition. The courage to flirt with different styles brought him a lot of praise from Pete Tong and BBC Radio 1. Stefano Miele aka Riva Starr is definitely a rising star, and this year’s debut album “If Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade”, starred a few hits, which are constantly being played on European radio stations. Immensely entertaining video for the hit “I was drunk”, which Riva Starr edited himself, will seem particularly familiar to Kusturica film lovers – the theme is taken from one of his best-known films, “Black Cat, White Cat”. Similar style share songs “Black Cat, White Cat” and “Bulgarian Chicks”, from the album of the same title. However, we shouldn’t forget that Starr equally favours classic house music and oriental sound. He has recently remixed a new single “Royal T” for Crookers feat. Roisin Murphy. He became famous of his remix for Malente “I like it”, editing a hit from 1975. This year Riva Starr has received a prestigious invitation to select and mix the recent issue of Miami for Defected Records. The remixes he did for Gossip, Derrick Carter, KC Flight, and Fatboy Slim, promoted his popularity and made him one hottest DJst.
